Born in the Buckeye State: Stories of the Ohio Presidents

  • Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum 235 E Beverley St Staunton United States (map)

The five decades between the end of the Civil War and the Roaring Twenties saw seven Ohioans elected to the White House. While leading the nation through this pivotal time in American history, the Ohio-born presidents also led private lives with private battles: three died in office and others suffered through political scandals and family trauma. In this engaging talk, Heather S. Cole, author of Ohio’s Presidents: A History & Guide, shares some of these lesser-known stories from the lives of our nation’s leaders.

Heather S. Cole is a public historian and writer living in Staunton. She is the author of several local and popular history books including Ohio's Presidents: A History & Guide, published by The History Press earlier this year. Cole works as an editor for Bridgewater College and runs Rock Street Press, a small publishing company specializing in local and family history.
